CLASSEN releases DECLARE label for newly developed CERAMIN Flex
Published on July 9, 2024
Kaisersesch, November 28, 2024 – The CLASSEN has received the coveted Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for CERAMIN®. This award recognizes CERAMIN as one of the most efficient and sustainable solutions for the construction and renovation industry.
One outstanding feature of CERAMIN Flex is its "Red List Approved" classification under the International Living Future Institute (ILFI)'s "i-13 Red List" criteria. This means that the product does not contain any ingredients that would need to be marked on the red list and are known to pose serious risks to human health and the entire ecosystem. This is a significant advantage over PVC products, which can only achieve the "Declared" classification due to their ingredients.
"We could have also chosen the 'Red List Free' label, but this would have required full disclosure of all ingredients," explains Sebastian Wendel, Sustainability Officer at the CLASSEN. "We decided against this for reasons of know-how. With the 'Red List Approved' classification, up to 1% of the ingredients remain confidential, while still being subject to the ILFI's strict Red List criteria. In our case, only 0.76% of the ingredients are kept secret, as can be seen in the label's detailed list."
The decision to use the "Red List Approved" label underscores the CLASSEN commitment to meeting the highest standards of product transparency and sustainability without disclosing business-critical information.
CERAMIN Flex not only offers an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional floor coverings, but also meets the high demands of the commercial market in terms of quality and durability.
Further information on the DECLARE label and CERAMIN Flex can be found on the CLASSEN website and on the International Living Future Institute platform.
