Kaisersesch, September 11, 2023. The CLASSEN is today announcing a significant step toward sustainability. The family-owned company, which has been committed to developing sustainable and environmentally conscious products since its foundation, is now underlining its commitment to a greener future by establishing its own sustainability department. In doing so, the CLASSEN is not only responding to the growing demand for environmentally friendly products, but also highlighting the company's long-standing sustainability philosophy, which has been cultivated over generations.
The CLASSEN has a long-standing commitment to sustainability that is embedded at all levels of the company. In order to better coordinate previous individual measures from different areas of the company, the company is now establishing its own sustainability department to clearly define, consistently pursue, and effectively implement its sustainability goals. Sebastian Wendel, who has been instrumental in shaping the company's sustainable orientation for many years and continues to develop it further, will head this department. He will be supported by Julie Quervel, granddaughter of the company's founder, who will take on responsibility for monitoring and maintaining sustainability indicators in her controlling role. Their contribution will ensure that the CLASSEN not only achieves its sustainability goals, but also continues to act as an industry pioneer in this important area.

To date, the CLASSEN commitment to sustainability has been manifested primarily in the consistent orientation of product development, the design of energy-efficient systems, and the construction of renewable energy facilities. The company attaches particular importance to the development of products that are compatible with health and the environment, all of which are certified with the Blue Angel label due to their minimal pollutant content. The establishment of the sustainability department is further proof of the company's consistent commitment to a better future. "We firmly believe that sustainability is not only an obligation, but also an opportunity for innovation and growth," says Sebastian Wendel. "With our new sustainability department, we not only want to minimize our ecological footprint, but also conduct our business according to ethical principles and bring about positive change in society."

About the CLASSEN Group

As a leading German manufacturer of wall and floor coverings, this family-owned company stands for technological leadership and sustainability. Under the motto "Floors For A Better Tomorrow," the approximately 2,000 employees of the CLASSEN are committed to a sustainable future in all areas of the value chain. With great passion and expertise, they achieve outstanding results – from resource conservation and long life cycles to the complete recycling of healthy wall and floor coverings.

CLASSEN avoids the use of chlorine, PVC, and plasticizers in its healthy wall and floor coverings. With numerous patents available to the entire industry, the company not only underscores its own independence, but also its ongoing commitment to our natural resources. With CERAMIN®, CLASSEN has developed CLASSEN material that consists largely of recycled plastics and is 100 percent recyclable. In this way, CLASSEN is making CLASSEN exemplary contribution to the circular economy.

Founded in 1962 by Dr. Hans-Jürgen Hannig, the family business is currently managed by three generations, including the founder himself.
